What Cleaning Products Do You Use?

We strive to be an environmentally conscious cleaning company and our staff are trained to use the most gentle and effective cleaning solutions in your home. While we are open to your wishes, bleach, Pledge and CLR are cleaning products that Black River Falls Cleaning Services will not use in your house. We are always testing new products to see if they live up to their word and in turn, are worth living in your space.

Common ingredients in our cleaning products include: vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, essential oils, baking soda, dish soap, rubbing alcohol, as well as store-bought natural cleaners. Using harsh chemicals is less safe for our staff and your family, and the ingredients listed above disinfect, clean, and polish the surfaces of your home just as well. Currently, the only product Black River Falls Cleaning Services uses in house cleaning that is not extremely gentle is fume-free oven cleaner. As we do have limited time in your home, ovens do not have several days to soak with a more natural product. Ovens also tend to be the appliances with the most build up and difficult to clean areas. If you wish for us to exclude this product when we do a deep-cleaning service, we can absolutely do this, though the oven may not be as squeaky clean.

In our commercial cleaning accounts, we discuss the needs of each client on an individual basis. At smaller offices, we use the same effective natural products as in the homes we clean. At our more industrial locations, we use the right product for the job- this includes degreasers & floor cleaners that are necessary to ensure we provide each client with the clean they need for their offices and plants to really shine for their customers and employees.

Will the Initial Cleaning Take Longer Than the Ones That Follow?

To bring your homes cleanliness up to our standard of excellence, the first time our cleaners visit your home generally will take longer. How much longer? This depends on several factors, including number of pets, level of buildup, decorating style, and the size of your home. Most of Black River Falls Cleaning Services’ clients prefer to schedule regular cleanings, bi-weekly and every four weeks being the most popular appointment spacing, to cut down on the time needed to clean after the first visit.

If you decide to use our cleaning services on a sporadic visit, each visit will take longer than if you were to have us come regularly, as the more time between appointments, the more buildup occurs in your home.

How Long Do Regular Cleanings Take?

Since your home is unique and has specific needs, it may take more or less time for us to clean your home compared to the house two doors down. Once we get to know your home, though, it will be quite consistent with how long each cleaning takes.

Our lifestyle and habits dictate how our homes are kept and we’re all different, so it can be hard to predict this without cleaning the space first.

When we speak with you to confirm your initial cleaning, Black River Falls Cleaning Services will provide you with a ballpark estimate, and then confirm that once your initial clean has been completed.

Are Pets at Home Ok?

You know your pets better than we do. If the pet is comfortable around a new person, noise, and a vacuum or mop (which freaks out many animals), then having the pet at home is fine with us. To ensure everyone’s comfort and safety however, we recommend that the animal be in a crate or separate room for the duration of the job. Black River Falls Cleaning Services hires cleaners who are comfortable with pets. If a pet is acting in a threatening manner to our cleaners, they are trained to leave the home until we can reach you to discuss future cleaning options.

Please Note: We do NOT walk, feed or clean up urine or feces left from animals.

Are You Bonded and Insured?

Black River Falls Cleaning Services is bonded and insured. We can provide proof of insurance if requested.

Do You Change Linens or Do Laundry?

If you leave fresh linens on the bed and specifically request this at the time of booking, we will change and launder them. Beds will be made regardless of linen changes. Additional loads of laundry can be done as well but must be added to your booking in advance to make sure that Black River Falls Cleaning Services has accounted for enough time to complete the task.

Do I Need to Be Home for the Cleaning?

Only if you would like to be. If you won’t be home, just let us know what kind of entry and exit arrangement you would like. In a majority of these cases, our insured housecleaning professionals are provided with a spare key or garage code. For the initial cleaning, many clients choose to be their home to show our cleaners around the first time and explain any areas to be avoided or given particular attention to.

How Does Booking Work?

Fill out our easy estimate request and within 24 hours, you’ll be contacted by our office with a cleaning estimate, iron out any details and clarify requests. Then, a confirmation email will be sent out with customer guidelines for you to sign & return to us prior to our arrival. You’ve just booked your first cleaning and now you can go back to doing the more exciting things in life!

What If I Want Something Done That’s Not on Your Checklist?

Ask away! We pride ourselves on being accommodating. As long as Black River Falls Cleaning Services is able to do the job (have the right tools and training), we would be glad to schedule in extra work at your home. Please discuss your requirements at least 48 hours prior to the visit so that we can allot any additional time.

What If I Just Want to Book a Few Hours of Cleaning With You?

Certainly! Give us a call to set your appointment up. You’ll be charged our prevailing hourly rate for one-time cleans, and we will discuss a priority list for your visit. We have a 3 hour minimum.

How Does Payment Work?

You can easily pay via debit/credit card or check after your service. After each cleaning, an invoice will be sent to you via email, which is due upon receipt. You will be able to pay with a card here, or send a check if you prefer. Note that lack of payment of previous cleanings means we will be unable to service your home until all bills are paid. If a history of late payment has been established, payment prior to cleaning will be required.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

In order to prevent a last-minute cancellation, Black River Falls Cleaning Services sends out reminder emails and text notifications prior to your service and require a 48-hour notice for cancellation – voicemail or email is acceptable and all messages are time stamped for accuracy. At the time of your call, we can go over a time that works out best for you to reschedule your appointment. Without a (48) hour notice you will be charged 25% of your cleaning. Cancellations on the same day of service for any reason will be charged half the rate of service. All cancellations must be made through our office.

What If Something Is Broken or Damaged During the Cleaning?

We believe in shining a spotlight on an issue rather than sweeping it under the rug. If something gets broken or damaged, our staff are trained to photograph it and report it immediately, without reprimand. They are careful and considerate of each space they attend, but every now and then something can happen (we are human, after all). Once reported to the office, we contact you to discuss a fair and quick resolution.
If something happens to break during our routine service, we’ll do our best to repair or replace the item. Our residential housekeepers are fully insured, so claims can be filed when appropriate. We do ask that any irreplaceable items be put away and anything you are concerned about is noted at the time of booking. Please note, we don’t repair or replace existing damage or improperly installed items.

Do Your Housecleaners Accept Tips?

While tips aren’t expected, we’re allowed to accept them. Some of our clients prefer to tip a little at the end of each service while others provide a large tip at the end of the year. You can also leave a review on our website or Facebook page. We love hearing that our work is appreciated.

How Often Can You Provide Service?

Black River Falls Cleaning Services is happy to provide service once a week, every other week, or once a month, depending on your cleaning needs. You can also request housecleaning services for special events, as well as move-out and move-in cleaning assistance. Because we work on a no-contract basis, you can update or change your cleaning plan to fit your busy schedule, budget, and cleaning needs.
For our commercial clients, we can visit daily either during the workday or after hours, whatever option works best for you.
